The Home Depot Barcode Testing Center - Import

Bar Code Graphics, Inc. has been selected by The Home Depot to certify their import vendors’ logistic barcode compliance. With the assistance of Paccess, Bar Code Graphics has established a barcode testing facility in Shenzhen, China. Due to the substantial investment in their automated scanning infrastructure and the benefits for both parties achieved from automation, The Home Depot is expecting 100% barcode compliance from their vendors.

Based on packaging requirements, logistic barcodes for The Home Depot can either be directly printed on corrugate boxes or printed on labels. Import vendors are required to provide actual samples for each conveyable carton for every GTIN with a logistic barcode which flows through The Home Depot RDC supply chain. This requirement is mandatory for existing and new items.

Certification Sample Submission Process for Import Vendors

All barcode samples must be pre-registered through this website and pre-paid prior to submitting to our Shenzhen facility. An overview of the process is provided below. Samples which are not pre-registered and pre-paid will not be processed. Only physical samples will be evaluated. Our analysts will not review any facsimile or e-mailed images.
Communication
Inquiries regarding the certification process and test results should be sent to test@barcode-us.com. For questions regarding Certification Processing, import vendors are encouraged to first review the Frequently Asked Question (FAQs) on this website.
Certification Fees
The cost for barcode evaluations is $60US per item. Payment must be made with a credit card during the online registration. Items which do not pass certification are required to be re-submitted. Certification fees are applicable for all new and re-submitted tests samples.
The Pre-Registration Process
Every Import Vendor must pre-register their items in order to submit logistic barcode samples. Please enter your company’s MVEN (identification number) in the login box at the bottom of the page. Pre-registration involves entering your facility address, contact information, and providing a listing of the samples which you will be submitting. Import Vendors are encouraged to review all their conveyable cartons which carry a logistic barcode by GTIN, and determine a submission schedule. Timely sample submissions will help prevent vendors from carrying excess printed carton inventory with non-compliant barcode symbols.
Test Sample Submission
Once an invoice is paid, sample submissions may be sent to the testing facility. The testing laboratory address will be provided on the submission form generated during the pre-registration process. DO NOT SEND IN SAMPLES WITHOUT A COMPLETED SUBMISSION FORM. THD logistic barcodes may either be directly printed on corrugate shipping box or printed on white pressure sensitive labels.
1. Direct print on corrugate box - Actual Sample
The entire carton does not need to be shipped. Only the panel with the printed logistics barcode needs to be provided. Note: If you are cutting out a barcode on a panel, please make sure that at least 2" of free space surrounds the entire printed symbol on every side.
Do not fold carton panel so that the barcode is impacted.
Do not write anywhere near the printed barcode.
2. Printed Label
Actual label stock needs to be provided.
Do not fold label.
Please make sure printed barcode is free of any tape or markings.
Certification Results
Testing results will be provided via e-mail to the listed primary and secondary (optional) contacts. For vendors who do not pass certification for certain size cartons or labels, the email evaluation will provide digital images, verification scan reports (if applicable), and corrective actions. All samples which do not pass certification will require re-evaluation and this testing process will need to be repeated.
Invoicing and Payment
After pre-registration information is entered by the Import Vendor, they will receive a completed submission form and an invoice. Bar Code Graphics, Inc. has partnered with Paccess to facilitate payment and sample processing. Import Vendors will receive explicit payment instructions with each invoice. All invoices must be paid in full PRIOR to submitting labels to the Shenzhen facility.

Payment with a credit card is required during the pre-registration process.
